Mechanisms of activating and crossing of the blood brain barrier by microbes and subsequent host responses at the blood brain barrier and inside the brain. Focus on responses to Plasmodium infected erythrocytes

Lecture: HIV-1 neuropathogenesis and Immune reconstitution syndrome. Avrindra Nath, M.D.
This lecture will focus on cellular pathogenesis of HIV in the brain, the brain as HIV reservoir for recurrent infection. Special consideration will be given to emergence if CNS-Immune Reconstitution Syndrome with HIV infection.
